The Thinning of the Herd
Posted by Bill Bythewood under For Realty Professionals
The weak are overtaken by the strong - the strong shall survive. This is herd mentality. This is real estate. So many agents, just waiting on that big sale…so many not doing any more than is absolutely required of them. Even answering the phone seems to be too much at times! The herd is thinning, those of us that work will survive. The people calling, whether its agents, customers, lenders…whoever, deserve the best you have. If you cant give that - leave! If you can’t communicate, find a job where communication is not required…but in this job - it is. This industry has received a huge black eye, that needs to change. Those of us left need to change that black eye, work hard, earn our money, and give back….and give our best.

Amen, Bill! This market will reward the true real estate professional and punish those that are not committed. Gary Keller says in SHIFT that "people are attracted to the industry by the perceived income opportunity and driven out by the reality of the competition for it...when the natural lag plays out, you will be positioned to take advantage of the inevitable rebound."
